The 14 tracks on INDUSTRY are purely instrumental creations from composer/multi-instrumentalist/producer/engineer Mike Nicholson. Unlike other instrumental rock records, INDUSTRY is not a showcase for Mike Nicholson’s chops on guitar or other instruments. It’s a record that provides the listener with songs where the main feature is melody but with plenty of groove, atmosphere, mood, emotion and some danger lurking around the corner. While twangy surf guitar is prevalent on many of the tracks, Mike’s vision is to make the record as diverse as possible whilst still being essentially a rock recording. INDUSTRY is a heady stew of Mike’s influences and inspirations. Most every track is a mix of sub genres such as spaghetti western guitar married with synthpop or progressive rock with jangle pop or cool ambient textures colliding with slightly disturbing post rock. INDUSTRY is a deep well of musical moods, rhythms and melodic invention.
